Learners must solve tasks themselves but can rely on in-system help and navigation guides along the way. <\/p>\n<p>In this blog post, we take a closer look at what system training entails.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span>A <span style=\"color: #e96569;\">system training course<\/span> can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide learners with practical training in specific workflows within a simulated version of an IT system.<\/li>\n<li>Allow learners to make mistakes and gain experience with the IT system without consequences.<\/li>\n<li>Make learners self-sufficient in an IT system.<\/li>\n<li>Provide learners with a foundation that they can build upon in the time following the course.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as both onboarding for new users and a refresher of workflows for existing users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #136765;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What are<\/span> <span style=\"color: #e96569;\">workflows<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">?<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Our philosophy is that when users know the phases of a workflow, it is easier to figure out how to do it in the system. An example of a workflow could be: <em>&#8220;Transfer money via your online bank.&#8221;<\/em>  <\/p>\n<p>The workflow consists of smaller procedural steps, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selecting the account you want to transfer from and to<\/li>\n<li>Entering the amount and writing a comment<\/li>\n<li>Pressing &#8220;Send&#8221; and approving the transaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most people who know this workflow will be able to transfer money in several different types of online banks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is therefore not so much the system itself we want to teach the learners, but the workflow required to perform a desired task.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By training learners in specific workflows in a simulated version of the IT system, they gain both practical experience in how to solve a task and how the specific IT system works.<span style=\"color: #136765;\"><span style=\"color: #e96569;\">Self-sufficient<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">learners and navigation guides<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It applies to all <a href=\"https:\/\/grapenordic.com\/e-learning\/\">e-learning<\/a>, or learning in general, that learners learn best by having to perform actions on their own, with help, guidance, and feedback along the way. In this way, they can make mistakes and gain experience in a safe environment, making it easier to remember the correct path afterward. <\/p>\n<p>System training uses the same pedagogy. We let the learners try for themselves but ensure help along the way in the form of help buttons and navigation guides. A navigation guide is a document that shows the individual procedural steps in a workflow with explanations and small pieces of graphics from the IT system. Learners can save and use the document afterward to quickly solve a task.   <\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #e96569;\">Preparation<\/span> and Considerations<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When we design and develop system training, we must ask ourselves:[\/vc_column_text][fancy-ul icon_type=&#8221;standard_check&#8221; color=&#8221;Extra-Color-3&#8243; alignment=&#8221;left&#8221; spacing=&#8221;default&#8221; link_style=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In which situations the learners will use the system.<\/li>\n<li>What the learners need to learn to become self-sufficient.<\/li>\n<li>And whether there are specific stories that can support the individual workflows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In <span style=\"color: #e96569;\">short<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Use system training to make your employees self-sufficient with an IT system\u2014both when the system is new, when changes have occurred, or when specific workflows need to be maintained.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it is not a system your employees need training in, but rather a product?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>System training trains learners to use an IT system by providing them with basic knowledge and experience with workflows, the system&#8217;s purpose, fundamental navigation, and tips &#038; tricks within the system.
