Excel Pivot

The program consists of 7 modules which gives you a clear understanding of how to use PivotTables as a tool for setting up data. You will save time analyzing and viewing your large amounts of data in your pivot table or pivot chart. The course is for experienced Excel users and requires basic experience with Excel.

MODULE 1 - INTRODUCTION

Introduction to Excel Pivot Table. Walk-through of course modules and prerequisites.

MODULE 2 - WHAT IS A PIVOT TABLE?

The modules gives the employee a thorough introduction to Excel Pivot Tables. What is a Pivot Table and what is the best use of it.

MODULE 3 - CREATE PIVOT TABLE

  • Preparing Data
    • Data requirements
    • Avoid zero- and/or error-values
  • Connect Data to the Pivottable
    • From the Data in Excel
    • From the Data in databases (Access, SQL, and others)

MODULE 4 - DESIGN PIVOT TABLE

  • Field Areas
  • Grouping of different datatypes (Numbers, text, dates)
  • Viewing data as a percentage of a total
  • Create formulas/calculated fields directly in the pivot table

MODULE 5 - WORKING WITH PIVOT TABLE

  • Sorting – automatic/manual
  • Filtering
  • Using the “Slicer” feature
  • “Drill down” – see the underlying data
  • Analyse data – customer data, employee data, sales data etc.

MODULE 6 - PRESENTATION

  • Using the built-in styles/formatting
  • Conditional Formatting – Spot developments/trends
  • Create PivotCharts

MODULE 7 - REPORTING

  • Make your interactive reports directly in Excel with Pivot tables
  • Create your own reports with the function GetPivotData
  • Record macros to update the pivot table
